My work in this arena is all about finding the best procurement routes for clients. This invariably means solving issues to do with cost, time, quality and sustainability – while keeping disruption to day-to-day business to an absolute minimum.

Recent work

I’ve just advised on the procurement route, construction contract and consultants’ appointments for a chain of micro-hotels to be constructed within tight timescales.

Challenges to meet

Completing construction projects on time and on budget so that the specification and quality live up to the expectations of guests – in my area, that’s always going to be the main challenge. The rise of the ‘green’ hotel is also leading to new opportunity and innovation.

Dream destination

New York – shrine to the good time, city of right angles and restlessness. There’s just so much to do and see – and so much to eat!

The place to stay

A hotel I’ve returned to again and again is Careys Manor in the heart of the New Forest – great spa, lovely restaurant and very friendly staff who just can’t do enough for you. It’s always a hard place to leave.
