Hotel and leisure experience

Over the last 20 years I have advised many small hotel operators and individual hotel proprietors on the acquisition and sale of hotels. These range from bespoke country house to city centre hotels and cover most corners of the UK. I have also acted on many public house and restaurant transactions and therefore have considerable experience of this area of the hospitality industry. I have also acted for clearing banks on the financing and refinancing of individual and hotel portfolios.

Recent work

I have acted for a growing family concern which over the last two years has acquired hotels in Shropshire, Berkshire and Devon and is actively expanding their group. I have also acted in that time on the acquisition of country house hotels in Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, a city centre hotel in Nottingham, as well as advising the Royal Bank of Scotland on the re-financing of a small group of hotels in the Cotswolds.

In an ever-changing market, trying to keep pace with innovative building and marketing initiatives. The competition in each sector, be it the large corporate or the niche country house market, increases year by year and if we as lawyers can keep abreast of these changes, and indeed be proactive in offering new ideas gleaned from experience, this must add value to the transaction.
